Aikido 55+ — gentle classes for mobility, balance and well-being

Gentle aikido classes for people aged 55 and over

Aikidojo Riga

Age is only a number, while movement is life.

Aikidojo Riga is opening enrolment for a new, gentle
Aikido 55+ group for people who want to maintain
the joy of movement, improve mobility and feel more confident
in everyday life.

Would you like to feel greater ease in every step, reduce stiffness
and gradually restore mobility — without exhausting fitness routines,
extreme loads or abrupt exercises?

We invite you to gentle aikido classes for beginners. The group is
designed especially for people aged 55 and over who value an active
lifestyle and want to practise at a comfortable pace while respecting
their individual well-being.

No previous sports experience is required. We begin with the
fundamentals, and every movement is introduced gradually.

Aikido 55+ class schedule

Thursdays

10:00–11:00

What is gentle aikido?

Aikido is not based on aggression or competition in strength.
It is an art of movement, balance, coordination and harmonious
control of the body.

Classes do not include high falls, sharp strikes or heavy physical
overload. The main focus is on calm, natural and controlled movement.

What can the classes help develop?

Mobility and freedom of movement

Gentle joint exercises, mobility work and careful stretching
help participants become more aware of their bodies and
gradually improve their range of movement.

Balance and confidence

Coordination exercises help develop spatial awareness,
more confident control of movement and greater security
in everyday activities.

Activity without exhaustion

The intensity is designed to provide energy, enjoyment and
a pleasant feeling of physical activity rather than leave
participants completely exhausted.

A friendly and supportive atmosphere

Classes are also an opportunity to meet like-minded people
and spend time in a calm, welcoming and supportive environment.

The classes focus on healthy movement, well-being and enjoyment.
The pace and intensity of the exercises are adapted to the abilities
and comfort of the participants.

How should you prepare for your first class?

Please come to your first class in comfortable sports clothing.
Trousers should be long.

Clothing should preferably have as few buttons, zips, buckles,
cords and protruding elements as possible, since these may catch
or scratch during movement.
